For example, if you have a Linux server running remotely, you use Putty to access that Linux server from your home securely using a protocol called "SSH" which stands for SSH (Secure Shell). Official ports are available for some Unix-like platforms, with work-in-progress ports to Classic Mac OS and macOS, and unofficial ports have been contributed to platforms such as Symbian, Windows Mobile and Windows Phone.īasically it allows you to connect to a server securely and provides a platform to execute your commands on that server. PuTTY was originally written for Microsoft Windows, but it has been ported to various other operating systems. The name "PuTTY" has no official meaning. It supports several network protocols, including SCP, SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw socket connection. Flames in the fireplace set the mood, and the number of ghosts that peer through the windows indicate how many strange creatures inhabit the house. This is the location where the key rack is kept and you can receive help from the telephone hot-line. All this must be done before the clock reaches 13 o'clock, its poignant chime constantly reminding you that you are working against time, adding excitement and intensity to the game.Īfter an initial tour of the house accompanied by the musical backing of the 'Monster Mash' you are transported to the foyer. The goal is to locate the 13 missing keys, by visiting 13 mysterious rooms throughout this 3-storey haunted house. A multimedia creation that has truly captured the intrigue of an eerie dwelling frequented by malevolent spirits, spooks, long-legged beasties and things that interact with you through the marvels of state-of-the-art technology. The Ultimate Haunted House from the Microsoft Home series was one package I was glad to get out of alive! Designed by Gahan Wilson, America's master of the macabre, it is a game for 8 to 12 year olds. Running around, I overshot doors and NPCs quite a lot so had to correct my position by one square a lot. Moving around is a little clunky, particularly when you only want to move one square. There should also be safe zones immediately around entrances to towns/caves etc where the enemies cannot attack you. Enemies on the world map trigger battles way too often. It kept me engaged, wasn't frustrating, and I was able to figure it out at the right pace. The torch puzzle in the Hideout cave was well done. Dialogue feels natural and helps flesh out the characters and world. Thank you so much for the diary that automatically displays when you load a save! The basic attacks feel like using skills, and having them change depending on what weapons you have equipped really helped to keep minor battles interesting. Customisations to the menus and battle system really make this game stand out. Game aesthetics look great: the art, the animations, the maps, the extra little intro when you first launch the game. I suspect the project has been abandoned but I'm providing the following feedback in case the dev ever comes back to this. While there isn't much to this game so far, it's obvious a lot of time and attention has been put into what is here. |
